CarSight ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
Information We Collect
CarSight is designed with privacy in mind. We collect minimal data necessary to provide our services:
- Photos: When you use the AI diagnosis feature, photos are sent to our secure proxy server for analysis. Photos are processed in real-time and are not stored on our servers.
- Vehicle Information: Make, model, year, mileage, and nicknames you enter are stored locally on your device using SwiftData.
- OBD-II Codes: Diagnostic codes you enter are sent to our server for lookup. These are not stored or linked to your identity.
- Scan Count: We track the number of free scans used, stored locally in your device's Keychain.
- Subscription Status: Managed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We do not process or store payment information.
How We Process Data
All API requests are routed through a Cloudflare Worker proxy. This proxy:
- Forwards your requests to an AI service API for analysis
- Does not log, store, or retain any user data
- Does not associate requests with any user identity
- Operates as a stateless pass-through service
Local Storage
CarSight stores all user data locally on your device:
- SwiftData: Vehicle profiles, diagnosis history, and maintenance records
- Keychain: Scan count tracking
- UserDefaults: App preferences (language, distance unit, onboarding status)
No data is synced to external servers or cloud services. Your data stays on your device.
Third-Party Services
- OpenAI: Photo analysis and diagnostic content is processed via OpenAI's API. Please review OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
- Apple StoreKit: In-app subscriptions are managed by Apple. Review Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare: Our proxy runs on Cloudflare Workers. Review Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
- Amazon: The app may display links to Amazon for recommended parts. These links may contain affiliate tracking tags. No personal data is shared with Amazon through these links.
Affiliate Links
CarSight may include affiliate links to Amazon when recommending parts related to your diagnosis. These links contain a tracking tag that allows us to earn a small commission if you make a purchase. Clicking an affiliate link does not share any personal data from the app with Amazon. Your use of Amazon is subject to Amazon's Privacy Policy.
What We Do NOT Collect
- We do not use Firebase or any analytics SDK
- We do not track your location
- We do not collect device identifiers
- We do not serve advertisements
- We do not sell or share data with third parties
- We do not create user accounts or profiles on our servers
Data Retention
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over data retention. Deleting the app will remove all stored data. Photos sent for analysis are processed in real-time and immediately discarded.
Children's Privacy
CarSight is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the app and on this page with an updated date.
